Sylvia Jane Hinojosa, age 58, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012. She was born December 7, 1953 in Victoria, Texas to the late John S. and Minnie Frausto Hinojosa. Sylvia was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. She was a private sitter and caregiver for several families, and later worked for the Victoria Advocate. She was very special to her family, and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Anita Hinojosa Mejia and husband Joey, and Elizabeth Balboa Ramirez and husband John Albert; six grandchildren, Matthew Balboa, Victoria Hinojosa, Javier Mejia, Julianna Mejia, Serena Ramirez, and Arianna Ramirez; step-mother, Florence Hinojosa; sisters, Yolanda Hinojosa, Delfina Hinojosa, Diana Hinojosa, Lucy Acosta, Teresa Whittamore, Sandra Hinojosa, and Minnie Hernandez; and brothers, Roque Hinojosa, Richard Hinojosa, Ernest Hinojosa, John Hinojosa, and Leo Hinojosa.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home, and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Thursday. Graveside services will be held 10:00 am Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Long Mott Cemetery, with the Deacon Jim Koenig officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Roque Hinojosa, Ernest Hinojosa, John Hinojosa, Leo Hinojosa, Dario Hinojosa, Juan Nieto, Matthew Balboa, and Tim Hinojosa. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Hinojosa, and John Whittamore.
