Our beloved Susie Reyna Garcia, 101, of Victoria, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025. She was born on September 27, 1923, to the late Juan and Concepcion “Pearl” Rosas Reyna in Victoria, Texas where she would grow up and spend her life. Susie was a God-fearing woman, who lived to serve and worship her Lord and Savior.
Susie was 1 of 6 children to Juan and Pearl. As a child she spent many days on the Reyna farm with her parents and her siblings whom she loved deeply. She met her future husband, Stanley Garcia, at the age of 16 while working one of her first jobs at the bakery. They were married 6 years later on December 30, 1945, and spent 71 years together before he was called home to the Lord. Together they had three beautiful children, and built a life full of love, faith and fishing. Susie devoted her life to serving the Lord and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, Momo to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and friend to all. Momo’s house was filled with lots love where all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren spent much time with her and Stanley. Throughout her life she spent many days on the water with Stanley and her children, as fishing runs deep in the Garcia blood. She had a very green thumb and loved spending time taking care of her plants in her garden, she loved quilting, along with cooking great meals for those she loved. She absolutely loved fresh flowers and had to have them in her home year-round. Often you could find her playing solitaire and watching a baseball or football game on television as she loved a good ball game. Susie was also an avid bowler; she spent many years as a part of a bowling league with her sister and friends. Susie spent over 50 years working for the O’Connors in Victoria, Texas. We consider ourselves greatly blessed to have had her for 101 years, and we take comfort in knowing that she is in Heaven where her heart has longed to be.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents Juan and Concepcion Reyna; her husband Stanley Garcia; her children Gloria Padilla, and Gregory Garcia; sisters, Mary Williams, Cecilia Reyna Garcia and Alicia McAtee; brothers, John and Victor Reyna; grandson Joshua Troutt.
