Shirley Anne Jecker Neumann passed away on January 5, 2019. She was born in Victoria on April 14, 1933 and was the daughter of Jesse S. Jecker and Martha Wagner Jecker. Jesse S. Jecker was a City of Victoria fireman for many years and was fire chief at the time of his death in 1956. His ancestors were early settlers and prominent Victorians. Martha Jecker was a nurse.
Shirley attended Nazareth Academy and graduated from Patti Welder High School. After attending Victoria College, she was employed as a legal secretary in the office of Joe E. Kelly and later Kelly, Hunt and Cullen, Attorneys at Law. Cecil F. Neumann, a partner in Neumann’s Food Store, and Shirley were married on June 12, 1955. Shirley became a homemaker until later years when she became a working associate at Neumann’s.
She is survived by her daughters, Katherine Brookhouser, Jane Culberson (Alan) and Laurie Foster (Tom) of League City; grandchildren, Katie Meischen (Jeff) of San Antonio, Christine Wenske (Keith) and Kerry Culberson; great grandchildren, Cecilia, Vivienne, and Georgina Meischen of San Antonio and Kaden Wenske; and brother, Lawrence Jecker (Anne) of Plano. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 45 years.
A rosary will be recited at 9:30 am on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, Our Lady of Victory School or Nazareth Academy.
