Sandra (Sandy) Elizabeth Muegge passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on September 22, 2024. She was born on March 18, 1951 in East Bernard, Texas to the late Arthur Lee Stern and Elizabeth Stern of Rosenberg, Texas. She graduated from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1969 and from Texas Lutheran College in 1973.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Randy of Victoria, Texas; sons, Dr. Aaron Muegge of Victoria; Kyle (Sharla) Muegge of New Braunfels, Texas; 1 granddaughter, Reagan Muegge, who was the light of her life and she treasured her time spent with her. Sandy was blessed with her siblings Dr. Marie (Bill) Plemons, Dr. John (Debbie) Stern, Reggie (Valerie) Stern and Debra (Butch) Butler and numerous nieces and nephews. Family was extremely important to her. Family gatherings were her favorite time of all. Family was everything to her. Her cherished days were spent reading many books, traveling, enjoying arts and crafts, cooking and playing games indoors as well as outdoors. Even when her health deteriorated she remained positive, upbeat, happy, and her smile never faded.
Sandy had the good fortune to have a dedicated and fiercely loyal group of “Baseball Moms” who spent many years of traveling together, having conversations, and solving day to day problems. These ladies became a safety net as they navigated through life’s challenges.
Sandy will be remembered for her positive outlook on life, infectious smile, sense of humor, kind nature and sweet, compassionate spirit. She shared her love, compassion, and patience with everyone she met. She brought a smile to your face because she always had a smile to offer. Sandy made everyone who knew her feel like you were her friend and important because to her you were a friend.
Sandy was a beloved teacher for 32 years teaching in Edna and Victoria schools grades 3-5 at Stephen F. Austin, O’Connor, Stanly, and Chandler Elementary and 4-5 year olds at Methodist Day School. She impacted the lives of many students. She was very passionate about educating young minds and helping to prepare them for their future. She truly believed every child can learn. She created a comfortable, supportive learning environment for her many students. She was always so excited to hear the accomplishments of her former students.
Sandy was a beloved member of the Victoria community. She was a member of the Victoria Junior Women’s Club, Delta Kappa Gamma (Eta Pi Chapter), Community Bible Study, Victoria County Retired Teachers Association, Crossroad Christian School, and Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry (VCAM) serving in various offices and positions.
Sandy was an active and devoted Christian and a member at First English Lutheran Church. She held a strong faith and was a living witness of the love and promise of Christ. She was active in choir, President of FELC Women, Rachel Circle, and serving on various boards at the church. She had a sincere love for her Lord Jesus Christ and looked forward to going home to heaven. She will be greatly missed by her family as well as the many friends and former students whose lives she touched.
