Ruth Ann Sengele Boyd passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017. She was born on April 5, 1924 in Victoria, Texas to the late Lawrence A. and Josephine Schmidt Tagliabue. She was a lifelong resident of Victoria and spent the past six years as a resident of St. Dominic’s Village in Houston, Texas to be near her children. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and St. Mary’s Scripture Study Class. Ruth Ann served as past president of St. Mary’s Altar Society, the Currer Bell Study Club and received an Apostolic Blessing from Pope John Paul II. She was also a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem for the past 15 years.
She is survived by her sons, D. X. Sengele, III, James A. Sengele, both of Houston, Texas and Jeffrey W. Sengele of Missouri City; daughters, Suzanne Long of Missouri City, Jean Dixon of Willis and Mary Klein. Ruth Ann is also survived by stepdaughter, Cheryl Scarbrough of Richmond, Texas and stepson, David Boyd of Victoria, Texas, as well as 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 55 years, Desmond X. Sengele, Jr.; son, Michael Stephen Sengele; second husband, William C. Boyd, Jr.; and brother, Lawrence J. Tagliabue.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm and the Funeral Mass celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Dominic Nelson-Tawiah will officiate. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery No. 3. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, D. X. Sengele, IV, Christopher Sengele, Brandon Sengele, Forrest Long, Nathan and Luke. Memorials may be made to Nazareth Academy, St. Joseph’s High School, St. Mary’s Altar Society or a charity of your choice.
