Ruby Ann Scherlen Tagliabue, age 81, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was born June 8, 1931 in Victoria, Texas to the late Frank J. and Lovine Green Scherlen. She was a 1948 graduate of Patti Welder High School.
Ruby and her late husband, Bill, raised their family in Corpus Christi. While there, she was a member of the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. She and Bill served as Eucharistic Ministers. She worked as a school administrative assistant for Calk Elementary for over 30 years and truly enjoyed her time with her school family. After retirement in 1999, they moved back to Victoria. As founding members, they rejoined Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very special to her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Ferbrache and husband Mike of Renton, Washington; sons, Doug Tagliabue and wife Cathy of Richmond, and Dennis Tagliabue and wife Anne of Georgetown; sister, Lucy Lee and husband John of Victoria; brother, Raymond Scherlen and wife Ann of Victoria; six grandchildren, Matt Ferbrache and wife Rebekka, Connor Ferbrache, Brett Tagliabue, Garrett Tagliabue, William Tagliabue, and Michael Tagliabue.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William “Bill” Tagliabue; and granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Tagliabue.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home, and the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Tuesday. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery No. 2. Serving as pallbearers will be Brett Tagliabue, Garrett Tagliabue, Steve Tagliabue, Robert Durrant, Greg Cummings, Eddie Ganem, and Robert Corley.
