A resident of Victoria since the early sixties, Royce graduated from Victoria High School in 1965. He received his BA from Texas A & I in 1972.
He married Sharon Leschber in 1970. After college, they returned to Victoria where Royce entered the banking business. He was an active member of the banking and builders associations. Royce took great pride in his community.
He was a member of First English Lutheran Church where he served as a council member and president of the congregation.
In his later years, he was employed at Crain Middle School.
Royce lived by the motto, "Faith, Family, & Friends". He dearly loved his family, his friends, and the get togethers where he entertained with his extensive joke telling abilities. Memories of Royce's humor and wit will continue to bring smiles to those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his bride of 40 years, Sharon Leschber Church, son, Matthew Church of Victoria, daughter, Elizabeth Church of San Antonio, brother Ronald Church(Bonnnie) of Angleton, nieces and nephews Rhonda Church, Farrell Church(Aimee), Slade Urbantke and Sydney Pauley.
The family is grateful for the support of Hospice of South Texas and for the loving care provided by Peggy West and Linda Martin. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Citizens Hospital for their wonderful care.
Visitation will be on Tues. Oct. 18th from 6 to 8 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be Wed. Oct. 19th at 10:00 am at First English Lutheran Church. Burial to follow at Memory Gardens.
