Roy Andrew Otto Johnson, 97, of Victoria, passed away on June 19, 2018. Roy was born March 2, 1921 in Victoria to the late Gus and Annie Swanson Johnson. Roy farmed and ranched in Victoria. He served on A.S.C. committees for years and also served as an usher in First English Lutheran Church for many years. Roy served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1946 and served in the Pacific with a B29 group under General Jimmy Doolittle on Okinawa.
Roy is survived by his nephews, David (Christi) Reinecke of Victoria, Larry (Wanda) Reinecke of Victoria, Leroy (Beth) Reinecke of Victoria; niece, Mary (Tommy) Gannon of Victoria and cousin, Esther Wehlmann of Victoria.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gladys Reinecke and cousin, John Larson.
Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2018 from 9-10 am at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10 am with Pastor Jim Pearson officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will immediately follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Reinecke, Leroy Reinecke, Travis Reinecke, Clay Ohrt, Jeff Svetlik and Curtis Pantel.
The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to Jan Justice and the entire staff of Brookdale for making Roy’s last year’s enjoyable.
