Born May 14, 1938 to Justice William and Rose Hartman in Corpus Christi, Texas, Jeanette married Sam E. Ray in 1960. The couple settled in Victoria in 1963. Jeanette lived a life of great faith and devotion to the Lord and her family. She was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, serving the parish and community through Altar Society and St. Vincent de Paul. She was a member of the Victoria County Master Gardener Association. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, and cake-decorating. She will be remembered for her strong character, kindness, and generosity. Her beautiful life of faith will be celebrated by those who love her.
Jeanette is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Sam E. Ray; daughter, Samantha Burris and husband, Douglas of Magnolia; daughter, Erin Ray and John Stormberg of Austin; son, James-Ryan Ray and wife, Rebecca of Conroe; grandchildren, Jacob and Samuel Ray, and Amaya, Nathaniel, Lila and Marin Burris; sister, Elaine Marsden of Corpus Christi; brother, James Hartman of Conroe; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Pauline Wilems.
The family will receive friends at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 2, at Rosewood Funeral Home with a Rosary starting at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with Fr. Gary Janak officiating. Burial will follow in Nixon Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Michael Hartman, Josh Hartung, Bryan Ray and John David Sliney.
