Rosalia R. Cisneros, 82, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Rosalia was born in McFaddin, Texas to the late Crecencio and Gregoria Rodriguez on March 1, 1935. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in Sumter, South Carolina.
Rosalia married Ernesto Cisneros on November 11, 1955 in Victoria, Texas. As a loving devoted military wife, she traveled along with her husband to the various stations he was assigned to. She would make a home wherever the family was stationed. As a mother and grandmother, she cared for her family, loved spending time with them, and enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for them on special holidays. Her decorated cakes became famous and eventually the word was out and she was baking and decorating for other people as well.
Her favorite hobbies included gardening, sewing and crocheting. She always made great friends wherever she would go. Rosalia was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Being an active member of the St. John’s Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary Unit 1269, she would volunteer for the Catholic War Veterans Post 1269 and the GI Forum. Throughout her life, she always believed in her Faith and Family and gracefully portrayed that.
Rosalia is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Manual Rodriguez and Crecencio Rodriguez, Jr.; and sister, Lucia Trevino.
Rosalia is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ernesto Cisneros, Sr.; children, Ernesto Cisneros, Jr. and his wife Emma, Linda McManus, Joe Anthony Cisneros and his wife Debbie, and Sylvia Carman and her husband Kerry; grandchildren, Heather Smith (David), Hillary Cisneros, Ernesto Cisneros III, Maryssa Cisneros, Ricky Ruiz, Jr., Nathan McManus, Danielle McManus, Megan Wade (Matt), Allison Nick (Josh), Kyle Carman (Megan); and great grandchildren, Joshua Lussert, Jeremiah Lussert, Jasmine Smith, Juan “Trey” Rosales III, Gwendolyn Rosales, Parker Wade, Brannan Wade, and Peyton Nick.
The family will hold a visitation from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home followed at 7:00 pm by a Rosary to be recited by the St. John's Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary Unit 1269. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Espinosa presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ernesto Cisneros III, Ricky Ruiz, Jr., David Smith, Dalton Rodriguez, Brock Rodriguez, Nicholas Rodriguez and Benjamin Garcia.
In memory of Rosalia, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church or to the St. John’s Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary #1269.
