He served his country in the United States Navy during both WWII and the Korean War, and was also an Eagle Scout.
Bob was a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and also served as an Eucharist Minister.
He was an avid tennis player.
Bob received his Masters Degree from Rice University, and was a Chemical Engineer. He began working for DuPont to help develop and open the Victoria Plant, and retired in 1981.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Agnes Maria Adams of Seabrook, Mary Catherine Alexander of Frisco; sons, William Keith Adams and wife Kathryn of North Richland Hills, Sjoerd Hendrik Adams and wife Sarah of College Station, and Paul Richard Adams and wife Molly of Victoria; seventeen grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sipriana Minnema Adams; sisters, Marjorie Jean Parrish and husband Randall, Elizabeth Bartlett, and Virginia Erickson; and son-in-law, Steve Alexander.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Friday, February 18, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, and the Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with the Msgr. Michael Harold officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Dennis Adams, Robert Allan Adams, Philip Ross Adams, Robert Calvin Adams, Benjamin Paul Adams, and Chad Wesley Walters.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, or any educational fund of the donor’s choice.
