Randy Joe Johnston, 45, of Victoria, formerly of Austin, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014. He was born December 27, 1968, in Monroe, Louisiana. Randy graduated from the Missouri School for the Deaf where he played football. He loved being an iron worker, and was very proud of the projects he built and oversaw throughout the years. He was employed by Lauger Companies Inc., where he worked with his father, Bill Johnston. He loved showing pictures of his work to his friends and family.
Randy was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish every chance he got. He loved rodeos, especially bull riding. Tinkering with his truck was also a favorite past time for Randy. He was very outgoing and loved his family. He had many dear friends and he loved to make people smile. Even though Randy was deaf he could carry on a conversation with anyone he met and always left a lasting impression. He was a good Christian and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Jennifer Johnston of Victoria; children, Shay Johnston and Sara Johnston of Baytown; two grandchildren; sisters, Tiffina Johnston of Easton, Pennsylvania, Jessica Brewer and her husband, Jason, of Cuero, Dian Gardner of Victoria and Tracy Wallace and husband, Bret of Cheyenne, Wyoming; six nieces and three nephews.
Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herby Johnston of Winnsboro, Louisiana, Emma and Charles Roberts of Winnsboro, Louisiana, Lucille Cegelski Hammack of Victoria and Beth and Jesse Hammack of Victoria.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with Deacon Steve Borowicz officiating.
