Ralph Eugene “Gene” Burns of Victoria passed away Friday, March 9, 2012. He was born July 20, 1929, in Wharton to the late Ralph Nolan Burns and Dorothy Lee Cloats Burns. Mr. Burns has worked in the oilfield, had a career in education (from teaching, coaching and superintendent), owned various small businesses, and always ranched. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and mostly being involved with family. He received his Masters degree from East Texas State University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Baptist.
Gene is survived by his wife, Patsy Price Burns of Victoria; his son, Gary Burns and his wife, J.R. of Victoria; grandchildren, Lindy Burns, Nick Burns, Danielle Burns and Sydney Burns; and one great grandchild, Purusa Burns.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, March 12, 2012, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Rev. Jim Shamburger officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Beyers, Chuck Whitehead, David Gajer, Nick Burns, Larry Zuniga and Mannon Mints.
