Pat was born in Hearne, Texas, on February 11, 1937, to the late Elmo and Ethel Welch Jett. She married the love of her life, Ross W. Shockley, on January 21, 1956 in Corpus Christi, and they enjoyed 35 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1991.
Pat is survived by their 5 children: Victoria (Tom) Stockton, Susan (Bill) Fleeman, Michael (Judy) Shockley, Mark Shockley, and Brian Shockley; stepdaughters Sherron (Everett) Reilly and Gail Shockley; brother Richard Jett, and 2 nieces. She was proud “Mema” to 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Pat is preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, stepfather, I.D. Abshire, and sister, Billy Draper
Pat was a wonderful homemaker, avid reader, and prolific seamstress. She loved all animals and adopted dozens of dogs and cats throughout her life. She taught Sunday School to several generations of children at First United Methodist Church in Fannin. She lived out her faith in Jesus Christ daily and inspired her children and grandchildren to do the same. She was a member of Rushing Wind Fellowship in Victoria.
The family will receive friends and family beginning at 1:00 pm Sunday, November, 24, 2013, at Colonial Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm Sunday, Bro. Michael Swearingen officiating. Private graveside service will be held at Live Oak Cemetery in Fannin.
Serving as pallbearers are Pat’s granddaughters: Candice, Courtney, Christina, and Caitlin Shockley, Amber West, Heather Stockton, and Mattie Shockley. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Brandon and Damion Fleeman, Benjamin Stockton, Tyler and Ross Shockley, and Joshua Shockley, and great-granddaughters Willow and Aubreyanna Roberts.
