SFC Otto Paul Schulz, 85, of Victoria peacefully entered Eternity, welcomed by his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 1, 2013. He was born August 8, 1928 in Caldwell, TX to the late Paul Otto Schulz and Sophie Hausler Schulz. Mr. Schulz retired after forty years of dedicated and honorable service to Texas Army National Guard. Otto served as Motor Pool Sergeant for Victoria, Edna and El Campo Units, and served a Tour of Duty in Honduras. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, barbequing, dancing, football, baseball and spending quality time with his cherished grandchildren. He was a devoted, loving husband and father. He was a member of KJT and Our Lady of Victory Cathedral where he also served as an usher for many years.
Otto is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Josephine Muzny Schulz. They were married on May 14, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dime Box, TX. He is also survived by three daughters, Jane Schulz, Elizabeth (Thomas) Schilhab, Paula (Michael) Myers, all of Victoria; brothers, Edward (Bobbie) Schulz of Caldwell, Eugene (Ruby) Schulz of Salem, Oregon; grandchildren, Jennifer Hiller (Matt) Bennett, Ryan Schilhab, Erin Schilhab (Lane) Trautwein, Joshua Hiller and Conner Schilhab; and three great grandchildren, Kaylei, Lauren and Megan Bennett.
In addition to his parents, Otto Paul was preceded in death by his infant sister, Hulene Irene Schulz, brother, Wilburn Milton Schulz, and step mother, Mary Schulz.
The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 9:30 AM on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, located at 1309 E. Mesquite Lane, Victoria, TX 77901. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM with Rev. Patrick Knippenberg officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2:30 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Dime Box, TX with Rev. Joseph Nisari officiating.
