Norman “Cap” Yates, 79, of Victoria, passed away February 20, 2014 surrounded by family. Norman was born July 7, 1934, in Glenola, North Carolina to William and Bessie VonCannon Yates. Norman was a member of Baptist Temple and served his country in the United States Air Force. Norman worked as a production foreman for 35 years at Mrs. Baird’s Bakery, he loved to do wood work in his shop and donate items he built to Baptist Temple, Guadalupe Elementary and country opry’s in the area. He was an avid Titan baseball fan and loved to attend the country opry’s.
Norman is survived by his wife, Beth Lewis Yates; daughter, Sheryl Canter of Victoria, TX; sons, Glenn Yates (Sam) of Dallas, TX, Paul Yates of Victoria, TX, Michael Yates (Michelle) of Victoria, TX; grandchildren, Matthew Pressler (Desiree) , Tyler Yates, Logan Yates, Zane Yates and Avery Yates, all of Victoria, TX and great grandchildren, Sydney, M.J. and Dillon Pressler. He is also survived by numerous siblings and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 4-6 PM at Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10 AM at Colonial Funeral Home with Pastor David Hudson and Pastor J.V. Helms officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Yates, Logan Yates, Lewis Johnson, Colton Davis, Cody Davis and Tim Budd.
