Melvin M. Christian, 94, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born March 22, 1923 in Sample, Texas to the late George and Lydia E. Mutschler Christian. He served his country in the United States Army Air Force in World War II. He married Joy Georgia Groth Christian in 1946, and they just celebrated 71 years of marriage. Melvin was a barber for over 70 years. He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his son, August Glenn Christian and wife, Jackie of Victoria; grandchildren, Jill Christian and JR (Amanda) Christian; great-grandchildren, Abigail Christian and A.J. Olson; nephew, James Bryan Christian. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, George Henry Christian.
Visitation will be 9-10:30 am Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 am with Rev. John Waak officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be JR Christian, Arlen Miller, Virgil Kellogg, James Bryan Christian, Dennis Riedesel, Darren Miller and Jason Rowley.
