Matthew J. Small

Matthew Joseph Small, 21, passed away in Bellingham, Washington on Friday, January 26, 2018. He was born on April 14, 1996 in Victoria, the son of Thad and Yvette Valdez Small. He attended Nazareth Academy, St. Joseph High School and Victoria East High School, where he was involved in Football and Baseball. He was employed as a production operator at Nature’s Path Foods in Blaine, Washington.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Thad and Yvette of Bellingham, Washington; his sister, Brooke Small and nephew, Aldo Llanas of Victoria. He leaves his grandparents, Rita Valdez of Lampasas, Rudy and Bonnie Small of Victoria. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Christina and Harvey Olascuaga of Benton, Arkansas, Justin Small, April and Matt Hilbrich also of Victoria; cousins, Aislynn, Alexandria Olascuaga and Sawyer Hilbrich. He is also survived by girlfriend, Rachel Conley of Bellingham.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe G. Valdez.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with a Rosary recited at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be AJ Calvo, Zacery Munoz, Eric Morua, David Ray Garcia, Ethan Delagarza and Braddon Schulze.
