Matt... I grew up with your daddy, uncle and grandma.  I met you a few times when I was home   and always thought what an inspiration to everyone  you were! You always had a sweet smile that you readily shared. You touched more lives through your years hear on earth than anyone can ever truly know.   I believe Jesus,  and your mom and dad called their baby home! Share that wonderful smile with everyone in heaven! Until we meet again..... 

Matt you were an inspiration to all at East High School. Wish I could see the reunion with your parents.... and please give Jessica Villareal a hug too....

I remember Matt in my third grade class at Our Lady of Victory. What a great personality and a smile on his face no matter what. My sympathy to the Dorsett family. May your days be full of great memories.

Matt was a student in my first class of 5th graders at DeLeon. He was such a sweet kid. He always had a contagious smile on his face and was a joy to be around. My prayers are with his family. 

Matt was an inspiration to all of us. He showed us how strong and kind people can be I’ll remember him forever he was a genuine person and that’s hard to find.

I had the opportunity to teach Matt  Sophomore Geometry.  He was a fine young man and always kept us laughing.  He enjoyed doing class projects and turned most class activities into fun times.

I had the privilege of enjoying many summer days and nights throughout grade school and college hanging out at your house with you and your family. To me, you will always be Clayton's little brother that grew up chomping at the bits to get a turn playing whatever xbox game we were into at the time (guitar hero and halo are big ones that come to mind). Little did we know you would become a better gamer than us all. We spent way too many hours than I would like to admit playing pc games together after your brothers moved out and you finally didn't have to take a backseat to anyone anymore. I'm truly going to miss your well executed trash talk from the other end of the mic. I have no doubt in my mind that you will continue slaying out from upstairs. GG brother

Matty Cakes, 

I remember all the days and nights you spent at my house with my son Jake Humphreys. You boys would go down the street to swim at your Uncle Jaime’s and you were always joking around with me and had that unforgettable smile on your handsome face!  When you were a student at East you would come in my office and hang out when you could get away with it!  

Although so many are sad that you are not here with us, I am so relieved to know that you are pain free and rejoicing in Heaven with Our Father and many in your family!  

I am praying for you’re family and loved ones that are feeling the loss of you that I can not imagine!  This world will miss you Matty Cakes, and I am so glad I have the happy memories of the time my family got to spend with you!!!  
I choose to, and I hope others choose to have the happy times flood our memories of you and not hang on to the sadness and pain you had to endure!

My heart filled with sorrow upon hearing of Matt's passing.  I remember him as a smiling little boy in  preK and had the privilege of being his teacher throughout his OLV years. Matt, it was my pleasure to have been one of your middle school coaches.  Your class was one of the best all around groups I ever got to be part of.  People like you made my job easy.  Matt you will be dearly missed.  Til I see you again.  

Every memory I have of you was filled with laughter. It was such a blessing to know you. Rest easy, Matt. 

Matt it was an honor to share the football field with you throughout middle and high school. You always had smile on your face and made so many people smile. You will be missed, love you brother. 

Matt, you are as perfect as a human can possibly be. You showed kindness to every single person that was in your life. In the 10-15 years I’ve known you, you have always had the ability to light up a room with your presence. Your kind heart is rare and irreplaceable.
You and your family have been through SO much, and really deserved more. I pray that you are in peace now and have found happiness.

Matt. I remember countless times when you made me laugh or smile when I didn’t want to. I remember sitting in the hallway crying and you were on your way to the bathroom and you stopped and sat down with me and hugged me and told me everything was okay. You were the life of the party, you never wanted anyone to feel down around you. You were the person to go to when we needed to hear jokes or just sit around and talk with. You made classes fun when no one wanted to be there. You will be missed dearly. Rest In Peace my friend. 

Matt, I can remember back when I first met you, we were just 3 or 4 at OLV and we became close friends and even got caught holding hands at nap time and made the school yearbook! And then we parted ways for a while and rekindled that friendship at DeLeon that continued through high school. I will forever remember how you could bring laughter and a lightness to any situation. Matt, I will cherish the memories we’ve had forever and one day I’ll see you again in the most beautiful place there is. Rest In Peace. 

Matt, I’ll never forget the first time I ever met you; back in 4th Grade, you had just started school at DeLeon, & it was just you and I in the hallway. Both shy, I smiled, you held the door open for me, & that was the start of a beautiful friendship! Many years of laughs, good times, & awkward “young love” feelings for one another, I cherish every moment that you were apart of in my life

Just two nights ago, I had a very detailed, vivid dream about you. It came as a surprise to me the morning after, because although we were very close in the past, time has flown by in the blink of an eye, & I haven’t seen you in a few years. The dream was just of us two, & we were sitting at the top of a hiking trail sharing everything that has happened in our lives over the past couple of years. Touching base on the highs & lows, right before I woke up, I made a comment about how great it was to see you again, & that I would love to do it more often. Without saying a word, you smiled, grabbed my hand, & hugged me long & tight. Again, I was confused as to why I had the dream in the first place, but shocked by how REAL it all felt; so much so that I played it out in my head over & over again all day, & had chills every single time

Words cannot describe how lucky I am to have had that dream. Making sense of it now, I am extremely blessed to have had that special last moment with you. Being able to hear you laugh when you told your goofy jokes, to feeling the warmth & weight of your hug, that is something I will cherish forever, & I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving that unique moment to me! You’re one of the most charming & light hearted individuals that I have ever met, with a beautiful soul to match

God, thank you for placing Matt in my life. Although my heart is broken & I am deeply saddened, I know you have taken all of his pain away, & will continue to watch him grow in every aspect!

Ohhh Matt! 
  I couldn’t be more blessed to have met this amazing young man. Some of my greatest high school memories included him.... Grabing lunch from sonic or going to Carter’s just to take it easy. Making me help him with all his homework because, he thought “I knew it all” (haha no) hearing him call me “momma lanna” in the middle of the hallways. 
  Rest easy Matt you will be missed. I’m sure you’ll be eating plenty of wingstop whenever you want now. 

Knowing a person like Matt was a blessing. He touched so many people and was an amazing friend and will truly be missed. 

I played football with you all through middle school, you were my brother. Our brother. We were a family and you were one of the strongest and light-hearted individuals I knew. Always kept your head up and had some of the best times on the field with you. You’ll always have a special place in all of our hearts and your memory will resonate with me ‘til the end. I love you man, you played with all your heart thru the 4th quarter and I’ll never forget you. Rest In Peace my brother.

You were one of my favorite students.  I will never forget you. So many great memories. This was my favorite. 

Matt and I dated briefly in 7th grade, and for our first “date” we went to see a scary movie because that’s what i chose  (he didn’t tell me he hated scary movies) 
So we are watching the movie, holding hands as middle schoolers do, and a jump scene came on which scared him and he jumped so hard that he hit our hands on the cup holder attached to the chair. I thought it was the funniest thing in the world and he was so embarrassed. After the movie he confessed that he didnt really like scary movies... We “broke up” shortly after that. 
A few years later we reconnect in high school, and become good friends again. I was always delighted to have him around, he always lightened the mood. 
Senior year he asked me to be his date for homecoming, and we went in our big group. I have to say that that homecoming was the best one i had ever had, because i had a great friend by my side. It was the best way to begin our final year of high school. Matt was a great friend, and a great soul. I’m so blessed i was able to be his friend in this life.
