Mary Jacqueline Jacquenet (nèe Atkinson), age 83, passed away in her home on June 18, 2024 in Victoria. Mary, also known by many friends and family as "Jackie", was born in Los Angeles, California to Sherwood Jack Atkinson Sr. and Blanche Beatrice Atkinson on April 9th, 1941. An educated woman, she graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor's degree in interior design and worked as an Interior Decorator until shifting her career into education as an elementary school teacher, and later owned her own successful tutoring business called the Learning Corner in Miami Springs, FL which touched the lives of many children. She married Pierre Jacquenet, a Korean War veteran, in Miami, FL in 1973 and moved to Victoria, TX to be with her son and grandchildren in 2002. Since then, she was a longtime member of Riverside Church and involved with the Warrior's Weekend Field of Honor. All her life, she loved to study the Bible and to spend time in diners and share her Christian witness with those around her.
Mary is preceded in death by her father Sherwood Jack Atkinson Sr., her mother Blanche B Atkinson, and her husband Pierre Jacquenet.
Mary is survived by her son David Hagan and his wife Lisa, and their children Justin and Michelle; her daughter Monica Carvajal and her husband Frank, and their children Ezra, Anna, Elias and Sarah; her brother Sherwood Jack Atkinson Jr. and his wife Bonnie, and their children Jack, Kevin, and Rob.
A visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, June 24th at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, June 25th at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bobby Rivera from Riverside Church officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens. Arrangements are by Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers will be David Hagan, Justin Hagan, Frank Carvajal, Ezra Carvajal, and Elias Carvajal.
Memorials may be given to Riverside Church or the Warriors Weekend Flag Field of Honor.
