Margaret Mitri Totah passed away July 2, 2019 peacefully at her home. She was born in Ramallah, Palestine on Feb. 13, 1926 to the late Habib and Nabiha Jamil Mitri. Margaret was a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral.
She married George Totah on November 27, 1948 and were married for 62 years until his passing in 2010.
Margaret and her husband George were pioneers of the motel and restaurant business in Victoria for well over fifty years.
Margaret is survived by her son, Keith Totah of Victoria; sister, Eugenia Mitry Nawas of the Netherlands and brother, Raja H. Mitry of Millbrae, CA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Totah; son, Larry Totah; sisters, Leila Mitry, Evelyn Mitry Kassees and brothers, Mitry Mitry and Osama Mitry.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 8:30-9:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM with Rev. Stephen Vacek officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Robert Rivera, Armando Posada, Omar Posada, Roland Ramirez, Joe Robertson and Charles Dentler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Victory Cathedral or Hospice of South Texas.
Special thank you to Margaret’s caregivers, Alice, Paula, Janie and Patricia for all their loving care of mom. Also a special thank you to her Eucharist minister’s, Sandra Genoway and Betty Miori that came by the house every week and to Dr. Aaron New, Dr.Shahid Hashmi and Hospice of South Texas for their wonderful care.
