She was born in Mc Faddin, Tx on October 28, 1925 to Pedro Olguin and Juana Cordova Olguin. She married the love of her life Arnulfo F. Reyes Sr. on October 28, 1943. They were married 57 years until Arnulfo’s passing on January 1, 2000.
She was the Matriarch of her family. Lupe was homemaker, hard-working wife, and a devoted Catholic all her life. She loved gardening, flowers and baking and cooking her famous tamales and always made time to play Mexican bingo with her family and friends.
She was a member of The St. Patrick’s Church, and was one of the founders of the Guadalupanas. Lupe had many close friends and family, who continued to visit her often and show their love for her.
She is survived by her only daughter Mary Jane Escamilla, sons, Erasmo Reyes Sr. (Estella), Jesse O. Reyes (Josie), Don Reyes Sr. (Ramona) all of Bloomington and a granddaughter whom she raised Michelle Reyes (Ashley) of Victoria. She is survived by her sister Mary Olguin Tijerina.
She had 17 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Lupe was preceded in death by her husband Arnulfo F. Reyes Sr. , her son Arnulfo Reyes Jr. and infant son Oscar Reyes, three brothers Jesus Olguin, Manuel Olguin, Pete Olguin , two sisters, Delores Figuerova , Anita Licerio and her son-in-law Albert Escamilla.
The family would like to give their thanks for unconditional love and support of her caregivers, Magnolia Salazar, Irene Cardenas, and Miriam Aguirre, and especially Dr. Suruchii Kathpalia.
A Divine Mercy Prayer will begin Sunday, January 18, 2015, at 6:00 pm and The Rosary will follow at 7:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Visitation and Celebration of her life with her family will continue prior to the service at St. Patrick’s Church in Bloomington on Monday at 10:00 am with Father Samuel Appiasi officiating. Graveside services will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Bloomington.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons Erasmo Reyes Jr, Andy Reyes, Randy Reyes, Jason Escamilla, Jeffrey Escamilla and Don Reyes Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Baladez, Jeffrey De Los Santos, Paul Canales, and her special nieces Amanda Medrano, Rosa Arambula, Carmen Gutierrez, Rosa Riojas, Connie Hernandez, and nephew Richard Olguin.
Memorials may be made in her name to St. Patrick’s Church in Bloomington.
