Lela was baptized at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Schroeder on March 31, 1925, and was married to Warren Heinold in the same church on March 17, 1945. They lived in the Schroeder area until 1956 when they moved to their long-time home near Coletoville where they farmed, ranched, and raised three sons. They worshiped at Trinity Lutheran Church in Victoria and later joined Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Coletoville. Lela was a very active member of her church, often saying that her church was her second family.
Lela was known to her family and friends as a very busy person, always rushing about to cook for her family, care for her garden and flowers, and quilt with her friends at the church. She loved to bake, making communion bread for the church, making bread and cinnamon rolls for her grandchildren, and bringing German sweet rice to family and church events.
Lela is survived by her sons, John Heinold, Larry Heinold (Brenda), Donald Heinold (Barbara) all of Victoria; daughter-in-law, Sandra Heinold; grandchildren, Matthew Heinold (Kelsey), Melissa Correll (James), Amanda Heinold, JoBeth Heinold, Leslie Hinton (John), Erich Heinold (Vanessa), Lara Mansfield (Colin), Chris Heinold (Gemayel), and Carly Shock (Randy); and great-grandchildren, Jacob Correll, Connor Correll, Jackson Crow, Hayden Heinold, Taylor Hinton, Charlie Crow, Conner Hinton, Sarah Heinold, Harper Mansfield, Emily Heinold, Merrin Heinold, Gunner Heinold, Hudson Mansfield, Kayla Heinold and Joseph Heinold.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren Heinold; sister, Gertrude Berger; brother, John C. Groll, brother, Arthur Groll, Jr., and granddaughter, Beth Heinold.
Visitation will be Monday, February 4, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
