Lance Alkek, 56, of Victoria passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010. He was born September 27, 1953, in Victoria to Jeri Dunham Alkek of Victoria and the late Franklin Alkek. He was a 1972 graduate of Stroman High School where he played football. Lance owned his own company and was a long time member of the Victoria Builders Association. He enjoyed ranching and taking care of his cows. He was also a devoted Houston Texan fan. Lance was a member of Holy Family Church where he was actively involved in the Acts Retreats and helped establish the Holy Family Boy Scout troop.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hoerig Alkek; daughters, Katy Alkek Ochoa and Morgan Alkek; son, Travis Alkek, all of Victoria; his mother, Jeri Alkek; brothers, Jimy Alkek of Houston, Mike Alkek of Kerrville and Jerry Alkek of Victoria; one grandchild, Dylan Ochoa.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 pm Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be recited at 10 am Monday, April 5, 2010, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Dick, John Hall, Thomas Null, Chris Ochoa, Bill Strane and Jack Gilbert.
Honorary pallbearers will be all nieces and nephews, David Heibel, Phil Seiler, Dr. Janice Zimmerman, Tim Miori and Jock Ross.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund, 704 Mallette Drive, Victoria, Texas, 77904, M. D Anderson or St. Joseph High School.
