

Victoria – Dr. Keith P. Kirkpatrick, Ph.D, 56, of Victoria and previously long time resident of Irving, TX passed away June 16, 2014. He was born January 23, 1958 in Tyler, TX to June Marie Gary Kirkpatrick and the late James Buck Kirkpatrick.
After graduating from MacArthur High School, he received his B.A. in Sociology (with honors) in 1981 and his M.A.T. in Sociology in 1983 from Southwest Texas State University. He went on to receive his Ph.D. in Sociology from Colorado State University in 1992. He was a professor at Victoria College from 1994-present. He was also Dean (2008-2010); Division Chair (2000-2008); and Department Coordinator (1998-2000) for the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences. His honors and awards included being selected to “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” for years 2003-2008, “Who’s Who in America” 2007-2008, Tenure in Spring 1998 from Victoria College. His Professional Association Memberships included the American Sociological Association, Southwestern Sociological Association and the Texas Community College Teacher’s Association. He also wrote various articles and presented numerous papers throughout his career.
He is survived by his mother, June Kirkpatrick of Denton, TX; wife, Michelle Kirkpatrick of Victoria, TX; sons, Thomas and Anthony Kirkpatrick of Victoria, TX; step-children, Sarah and Michael Dotras of Brownsville, TX; Daniel Dotras of Fallon, Nevada and Robert Dotras (Shasha) of Dallas, TX; sister, Marilyn Kirkpatrick Weintraub of Bedford, TX; and brother, Dr. Kenneth (Cris) Kirkpatrick of Heath, TX. Keith is also survived by grandson, Nevin Kirkpatrick, nieces Julianne Weintraub, Bianca Kirkpatrick; and nephew Connor Kirkpatrick. He was preceded in death by his father, James Buck Kirkpatrick.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapels in Victoria.
