Juella J. “Joyce” Dickerson, 89, of Victoria, better known to her family as “Honey,” passed away Monday, December 1, 2014, after a short illness. She was born December 27, 1924, in New Iberia, Louisiana. As a wife and mother, Joyce took pride in providing a loving home for her family. She was an avid duplicate bridge player where she was a former member of the Merry Merry Bridge Club, a member of the First Thursday Duplicate Bridge Club, and a regular player of the Tuesday Duplicate Group at the Women’s Clubhouse. Joyce was also a long time Pink Lady at Citizens Medical Center—a volunteer position in which she took great pride and dearly loved for more than thirty years.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Dickerson Lott and husband, Robert R. Lott of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania; sister, Carolyn Buehrig of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Brandy Lott Sloan and Brittany Alexandra Lott; and great-granddaughter, Peyton Kennedy Lott.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, C. A. Dickerson, Jr., as well as, her mother and step-father, the late Lucille Gilbeaux Cunningham and Lester Cunningham.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 4, 2014, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Brother Michael Gallagher of the Holy Cross Monastery in Beaumont, TX, will lead the rosary at 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Friday, December 5, 2014, at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Walter Martinez, Jim Frank, Terry Kubenka, David Long, Jeff Buehrig, and Monte Sneed.
