Joseph Phillip DePirro, 74, of Victoria passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019. He was born May 26, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph and Christine Leone DePirro. Joseph served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired Tech Services manager having been employed by Datapoint, Konica and Texas Workforce. Joseph was a member of the Catholic church.
Joe never met a stranger. He kept in touch with his family and many friends, some he knew for 40 years or more. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Joe and his wife, Gay were high school sweethearts and were married for 52 years.
He loved fishing, especially fishing trips with his nephews to the upper peninsula of Michigan. He also enjoyed puttering in the garden and riding his John Deere tractor.
Joe always had a good story or joke to share. He loved his pets, especially Bosco, Milo and Lily.
Joe had a heart of gold and will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Gayen Potts DePirro of Victoria; daughters, Tammy Ann Keller of Temecula, California and Julie Marie DePirro of Streamwood, Illinois; and four grandchildren, Danielle, Sarah, Ashlie and Brittany. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanine DePirro and Joanne Rix.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. A memorial service with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will follow at 3:00 pm.
