JoAnn Dick Hoffman, our loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the age of 76. She was born May 28, 1937 in Victoria, Texas to the late Henry Sr. and Josephine Sarkis Dick. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bobby G. Hoffman, parents and brother, Isaac Dick.
JoAnn was a longstanding member of Trinity Episcopal Church, along with her husband Bobby. They were active participants in the church’s Cursillo movement, bringing many couples to Christ. JoAnn loved gardening and earned her Master Gardener’s certificate through the Victoria County Extension Service. She was instrumental in helping to develop the Victoria Botanical Garden. JoAnn was a business owner and also a member of the Just Friends Club. She and Bobby were world travelers, enjoying the beauty of God’s earth and cultures different than their own.
Jo Ann was an inspiration to her family, teaching us to love others as Christ loved us, to have compassion for those that suffer, as well as tolerance for those who are different.
She is survived by her five daughters, Barbara Strauss and her husband, Craig of Pearland, Donna Griffin and her husband, Paul of Longview, Robbie Fauvergue and her husband, Brad of Dallas, Conni Simpson and her husband, Keith of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Kathy Pekar and her husband, Brian of Corpus Christi; sister Gloria Kleim, brothers Henry and Bobby Dick; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, March 28, 2014 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church, The Rt. Rev. David Reed, Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of West Texas, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larkin Griffin, Andrew Graff, Alec Cotten, Conner Simpson, Kate Pekar and Dylan Simpson.
Honorary Pallbearers, Craig Strauss, Paul Griffin, Brad Fauvergue, Keith Simpson, Brian Pekar and Chas Roberts.
