Jimmie Ray Culak, age 59, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2011. He was born February 12, 1953 in Yoakum, Texas to the late Joe Culak Jr. and Agnes Marcella Filipp Culak.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Jimmie retired from Union Carbide / Dow in 2001 after working at the Seadrift plant for 25 years as a chemical process operator.
He loved to cook, especially for his family. He enjoyed hunting with his sons. He liked the outdoors and working in the fields at the farm and baling hay. While his sons were growing up, he worked and volunteered with both their Boy Scouts Troop # 108 and their 4-H activities. Jimmie was also a ‘history-buff’, especially WWII. He and his family will always remember the special trips they took to several historical places, including their recent trip to Germany.
His is survived by his wife, Faye Pagel Culak; sons, 2nd Lt., Michael James Culak and wife Jennifer Ruth Williams Culak of Fort Carson, Colorado and Thomas Kenneth Culak and wife Rachel Marie Adcock Culak of Victoria; granddaughter, Addison Marcella Culak; sister, Jo Elaine Yancey and husband Pat of Victoria; and brother, William Eugene Culak and wife Mertes Donnelly Culak of Yoakum.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Rosary will be held 7:00 pm Sunday, April 1, 2012. The Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 pm Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dan Morales officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Quentin Yancey, Keith Yancey, Travis Yancey, Chris Culak, Joe Culak, and Matt Blough. Honorary pallbearers include David Cavazos, Gary Loest, Randy Zimmerman, and Roger Saski.
