Jeri A. Alkek, 82, of Victoria passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012. She was born January 7, 1930, in Beatrice, Nebraska, to the late Melvin H. and Dorothy McCord Dunham. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who was involved in ranching in DeWitt County for many years. Jeri was a Double Lifemaster of the Victoria Duplicate Bridge Club. She was an avid animal lover and had a special affinity for German Shepherds.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Alkek of Victoria; sons, James F. Alkek and his wife, Dr. Janice Zimmerman of Houston, Mike Alkek and his wife, Susie, of Kerrville, and Jerry Alkek of Victoria; sister, Harriette J. Glasinepp of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Trent Alkek, John Alkek, Sam Alkek, Travis Alkek, Katy Ochoa, Morgan Alkek, Aaron Alkek and Megan Alkek; seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin F. Alkek in 1999, and a son, Lance Alkek.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels, Rev. Charles Placker officiating.
