Betty Jean Roach Leon was born in Waco, TX July 22, 1930 to the late Truett Alma Roach and Sheila Croxton. She passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by son Frederick Shell (Teddy) Shields, Jr., her brothers Thomas Leonard Roach and Samuel Croxton Roach, the father of her children Dr. Frederick Shell (Ted) Shields and her husband, Harold U. Leon.

She is survived by her children Jeanne Shields Thomas Clark Hewitt, Storm Shields and Melissa (Missy) Jane Benefiel, her granddaughter Makala Jean Benefiel, nephew Samuel Thomas Leonard Roach and family.

Jean's greatest joy in life was her love for her family and her many pets.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. A private graveside service was held.

Pallbearers are Claude Keeran Koontz, Terry Peterson, Samuel Thomas Leonard Roach, Catherine G. Thomas, Harry Thomas and Andrew Wearden.

Honorary pallbearers are Robert J. Hewitt and James Robert (Bob) McCan.

The family is grateful for the loving care given to their mother by Diane and Jim Harrison.
