Jane Derbin Humphries, age 76, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013. She was born August 8, 1936 in Upshur County, Texas to the late John M. and Margaret Henry Derbin. She was a 1954 graduate of Maud High School, Maud, Texas.
She worked for Western Union Telegraph. She was also a substitute teacher for Calhoun County and Victoria School Districts. She was a former volunteer for Christ Kitchen. She enjoyed reading, spending time at the beach, and traveling with her husband in their motor home.
She is survived by her husband, Ross Humphries; daughter, Kathy Patton; sons, Randy Humphries and wife Debbie, and Larry Humphries and wife Michelle, all of Victoria; sister, Ruth Derbin of Wake Village, Texas; six grandchildren, Christopher Patton, Stephanie Patton, Vanessa Moore, Kasey Humphries, Matthew Humphries, and Logan Humphries; two great grandchildren, Aaron and Noah Alafa; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Viola Pearl Dues, Harriet Welch, Alice Kretsinger and Myrtle Derbin; and brothers, John Roy Derbin and William Ray Derbin.
Visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Nick Stewart officiating.
