James Robert Stastny, Jr., 59, passed away on May 31, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 27, 1954, in Victoria, Texas, to the late James and Madeline “Maggie” Neisser Stastny, Sr.
James retired from DuPont and Invista after 32 years of service as a lab technician. He was instrumental in developing and establishing lab techniques to improve accuracy and implemented time saving procedures and protocols to enhance overall performance for lab personnel.
James enjoyed being outdoors whether fishing, golfing or doing yard work. He was a devoted husband, godfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. His strong work ethic, kindness and easy-going personality were an inspiration to many.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Debbie Clements Stastny; brothers, Richard Stastny and Larry Stastny of DaCosta and Michael Stastny (Jennifer) of Victoria; in-laws, Sharlotte and Louis Botard of Angleton and Dennis and Vickie Clements of Mathis; numerous nieces and nephews; seven godchildren and his two “fur babies,” Katie and Lillie.
Pallbearers will be Bill and Phil Dellinger, Ian Stastny, Charles Miller, Gary Parenica, and Darrell Swoboda.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers of Hospice of South Texas and to the friends and relatives who provided support during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 3, 2014, from 5 to 7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with a Rosary to follow at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. George Henninger officiating. Interment will follow at City Cemetery in Hallettsville, Texas.
