James Edward Potcinske, 83, of Victoria, passed away the evening of Thursday, July 27, 2017. He was born on May 14, 1934 in Yorktown, Texas to the late Harry Edgar Potcinske, Sr. and Mildred Marie Hillmer Potcinske. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1952. He trained as a sharpshooter for the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and received an honorable discharge. James married Magdalen Petru on November 9, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Texas.
His career with CP&L Company lasted 42 years. James enjoyed working on vehicles, radios, TVs, and anything electronic. He changed the lives of many people with his honest, down to earth outlook on life.
James is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry Potcinske; grandson, Colton Patterson; and 2 nephews.
James is survived by his wife, Magdalen Petru Potcinske; brothers, Hilmer Potcinske (Roslyn), Daniel Potcinske (Delania); sister-in-law, Virginia Potcinske; son, David Potcinske; daughter, Mary Fultz (Stephan); grandchildren, Chrystal Woods (Adam), Randy Patterson, Dixie Patterson, Ashley Potcinske, Skylar Grant, Devan Potcinske, and Maven Potcinske; 14 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Family and guests will gather for a visitation from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, Father Christopher Fuchs presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
