Hazel Brown Settle, 92, of Rosenberg, Texas passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017. Hazel was born January 13, 1925 in Donna, Texas to the late George Thomas and Alice Elizabeth Brohman Brown. Hazel was a registered nurse for over 18 years at DeTar Hospital and was the supervisor of the surgical floor. Hazel was very active in many dance clubs, a member of Daughter of the Nile, Past President of P.T.C. at Our Lady of Victory. But her favorite job was being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Hazel is survived by her brother, Thomas Brown of Ft. Worth; daughter, Kay Post Madore (Bill) of Rosenberg; sons, Gary Post (Charlotte) of Austin, Mark Post of Austin; grandchildren, Ryan Post of Richardson, Benjamin Post of Lubbock, Jason Post (Danielle) of Lebanon, OR, Kristopher Zissa (Kristina) of Brenham, Jessica Zissa (Ronnie Jansky Jr.) of Victoria, Somer Zissa of Rosenberg, Brandt, Brian and Cameron Post of Austin; great grandchildren, Kristopher, Kaitlyn, Abigail, Landon and Karma.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 42 years, Virgil L. Settle.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
A funeral service will be Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 2 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with burial immediately following at Memory Gardens Cemetery. “Jealous of the Angels” will be sung by Abigail Zissa.
Pallbearers will be Bill Madore, Gary, Ryan, Jason, Benjamin Post, Kris, Kristopher, and Kaitlyn Zissa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Breast Cancer Foundation or Shriners Hospital for Children.
