Geoff Wheeler, age 56, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was born August 4, 1954 in Victoria to William G. Wheeler and Mary R. Wheeler. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and was an electrician. Geoff enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed horses and trail rides. While riding with the Six Flags Trail Ride, he received several awards and ribbons including the Nitchmann Buckle. Geoff was a member of the Victoria High School Class of 1972. He was very special to his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Geoff is survived by his parents, William G. "Bill" Wheeler, and Mary "Pood" Wheeler, both of Victoria; his brothers, William Winston Wheeler of Victoria and Lee R. Wheeler of College Station; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by grandparents, G. W. "Geoff" Wheeler and Delphine Wheeler, and the Rev. Leland Roberts and Ellen Roberts.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, and a Prayer Service will follow at 7:00 pm Tuesday.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bur Dobbins and the Rev. Barney Matocha officiating.
Honorary pallbearers include Fred Smith, Dr. Gary Mueller, Garland Pohler, J.T. Harrison, Dr. C. F. Schneider, Dr. Wendell Wilson, Lloyd Holbert, Jeff Burris, Slim Leland, Walter Pilgram, and the Dodge City Round Table.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Riding Therapy Center, 557 Love Rd., Victoria, Texas 77904.
