Gary Sides

William Gary Sides, age 80, went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father, Tuesday, November 20, 2012. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, October 20, 1932 to the late John & Viola Grant Sides. He graduated from Austin High School in El Paso, and Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, and attended Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and on the USS Essex.

He served as Minister of Music, Youth, and Education at several Texas churches, serving at FBC, Victoria for 26 years when he retired and then served at FBC, Bloomington until April of 2012. He fought a hard battle giving glory to his Lord and Savior every minute of every day. He was the most loving husband, daddy, and pawpaw, because of his love for the Lord. He loved singing, golfing, going to his vacation home in Glorieta, New Mexico, and most of all being with his grandkids. His faith in his Heavenly Father prevailed throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jacqueline Neal Sides; son, Britt and wife, Courtney; daughter, Valori and husband, Tommy; grandchildren, Brooke and Drew Adams, Ashton and Keaton Sides; sister, Peggy Whitacre and husband, Hal of Grants, New Mexico, and special family friend, Jane Krause and daughters, Molly and Sara.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be Friday, November 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 at Rosewood Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00, Saturday, November 24 at Memory Gardens, followed by a memorial service at 3:00, at Baptist Temple Church, Victoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Music Ministries of Baptist Temple Church, Victoria, First Baptist Church, Bloomington, First Baptist Church, Victoria, or donor’s choice.

A special thanks to his Hospice Nurses, and caregivers, Pam Solis, and precious granddaughter, Brooke, for the love and care they showered upon him; and thoughtful buddy, Royce Gower.
