

Gerald Lee “Jerry” Lenz, 82, of Victoria, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born January 16, 1931 in El Centro, CA to the late Lee Anton and Myrtle McBride Lenz.
He was an honor graduate of Patti Welder High School and Victoria Jr. College. After many years of building relationships through sales, refereeing, umpiring, and helping build youth sports, he pursued his dream and founded Jerry Lenz Sports, Incorporated in 1976. Jerry and Lea owned and operated Jerry Lenz Sports, Incorporated until their retirement in May 2000. He was a deacon, elder, and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Alphalea “Lea” Walkup Lenz; son, Richard Lee “Ricky” Lenz (Carol Ann); daughters: Carol Lenz Wisdom (James Bryan), and Julie Lenz Goodman (Mark); grandchildren: Joseph Lee Lenz, Blake Wellington Goodman (Tanya), Rhett Lexington Goodman (fiancée, Kathryn Harris), and Chase Rittenhouse Goodman; great-grandson, Dominic Michael Goodman; and brother, Clyde Eugene Lenz (Margaret).
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Lenz Van Dyke; and brother, Jack Edward Lenz.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel from 6-7 pm.
The celebration of Jerry’s life will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 11 am, at First Presbyterian Church in Victoria, TX.
