Felix R. “Cotton” Hillmer, 89, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012. He was born June 9, 1923, in Yorktown to the late Felix Frank and Rosa Pearl Jerkins Hillmer. He married Mary Evelyn Seim Hillmer on May 26, 1946, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Yorktown, and they celebrated 66 years together before his passing. Cotton worked for Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam before becoming a manager for Geogram Corp, a subsidiary of L.A.N. He was a licensed surveyor. He retired in 1986 and returned to Victoria from Missouri City, where he worked part time for Colonial Funeral Home and volunteered at Citizens Hospital. Cotton was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
Cotton is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Hillmer of Victoria; daughter, Cynthia Ann Hilllmer Wainscott and husband, Tom, of Richmond; daughter-in-law, Vicki Hillmer of New Braunfels; granddaughter, Lindsay Lee Hillmer Friedrich and husband, Roy, of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Cody, Jennifer and Travis Wainscott of Richmond, and one great-grandchild, Claire Evelyn Friedrich of New Braunfels.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step-mother, Laura Jerkins Hillmer, brother, Lawrence Hillmer and wife, Coral, son, David Hillmer, and grandchild, Tonya Hillmer.
The family will receive friends Friday September 14, 2012, from 6 to 8 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, September 15, 2012, from First English Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jim Pearson officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cody, Travis and Jennifer Wainscott, G.R. “Butch” Hillmer, Roy & Lindsay Friedrich and Claire, Jeffry Sproles and Bryan “Bear” Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Cole, James Anderson, John Balusek, Walt Teinert, Randell Turley, Totty Schulte, Leonard Geyer, John Jakubik and the late David Hillmer.
