Eunice Agnes (Rohrbach) Morkovsky passed into her eternal rest on February 22, 2015, while surrounded by the love of her husband and family at her home in Victoria, Texas. She was born on May 12, 1941 in San Antonio, and attended Little Flower School and Draughon’s Business College. She married John Alois Morkovsky on November 5, 1960, and they resided in San Antonio before moving to Victoria in 1971. Eunice’s primary occupation was full-time mother and homemaker, though she also worked for 12 years as a teachers’ aide at Our Lady of Victory Catholic School, and was a business partner to John for 23 years. Eunice and John are parishioners of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and was involved in the Women’s ACTS ministry for the past 13 years. While Eunice’s first love was spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren, she also enjoyed photography, restoring antiques, crocheting, embroidering, gardening, camping at the Frio River, making rosaries, and sitting on her back porch swing watching the birds. Eunice (or “Nunie”, as she was known by her grandchildren) will be remembered by family for her endless and unconditional love, her card playing, her love of the Christmas season, and her singing “I love you, a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck…”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eunice Rohrbach, her brother Elton Rohrbach, and her sister Janice (Rohrbach) Braendle Syring.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John, and their five children: John Morkovsky Jr. and partner Cheryl Dunn of Floresville, daughter Julie Moore and husband Dennis of Wilmington, NC, son Russell Morkovsky and wife Shelley of Floresville, son Robert Morkovsky and wife Dawn of Shiner, and daughter Amy Alexander and husband Matt of Victoria. She also leaves behind 18 adoring grandchildren: Donna (and husband Maurice) McCleskey, Zachary (and wife Courtney) Morkovsky, Jesse Jetter, Travis Morkovsky, Laurie Morkovsky, Molly Morkovsky, Corinne Morkovsky, Micah Morkovsky, Samantha Dunn, Faith Dunn, Brooke Alexander, Owen Morkovsky, Delaney Moore, Mason Alexander, Cecilia Moore, Connor Alexander, Bethany Moore, and Luke Alexander; and three precious great-grandchildren, Nyla Bowman, Landon McCleskey and Gavin McCleskey. Eunice is also survived by her brothers Charles Rohrbach and James Rohrbach.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Patrick Bitter, Michael Braendle, John Habermann, Michael Morkovsky, Steven Morkovsky, and Kevin Steelhammer.
