Emma Gene Evans, age 91, of Victoria, Texas passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024. Visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 from 5-8PM at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:30AM at Grace Community Bible Church, 201 Glascow Street with burial following at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Evans, William Evans, Jeremy Evans, Logan Burch, Gage Evans, Jason Burch, Mike Burch and Shane Dickson.
Emma Gene was born June 17, 1933 in Edcouch, TX to the late William and Emma Galbreath. She graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School in 1950. She married Donald Evans on October 2, 1951. She worked for the City of Victoria in the finance department and then started working at the Victoria Electric Co-Op in the Accounts Receivable department until her retirement in the mid-90's. She enjoyed sewing, photography and especially having the family together for the holidays and having a spirited game of Tripoley. She enjoyed many decades in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority as an active member. She always looked forward to her weekly bible study group and going to church on Sunday. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Emma Gene is survived by her children, Donie Gayle Evans, Mike Evans (Linda), Pamela Burch (Mike) and William Evans (Rose). Mrs. Evans also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with 1 great-grandchild on the way.
Emma Gene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Evans; parents, William King Galbreath and Emma Eppler Galbreath; and sister, Patricia Stovall.
