Elsie Nelson Hood, 95, of Victoria passed away January 7, 2011. She was born August 3, 1915 in DaCosta, Texas to the late Wincent W. and Louise Lala Shiller. Elsie was a member of First English Lutheran Church. She was a member for over 50 years serving as both Local and District President of Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 4146 in Victoria. She was also active in Lutheran Women and past District Deputy President of Rosebud Rebekeh Lodge.
Elsie is survived by her son, Perry Nelson, Jr. of Rockport; her daughters, Dianne Crowder of Dallas, L.C. Allan of Hurst and Elaine Mize of Victoria; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her first husband Perry Nelson in 1970; second husband, James “Blondie” Hood in 1990; and three sisters, Grace O’Connor, Ethelyn Hill and Nethel Groves.
A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Wirtley officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert B. Crowder, Robert Everett Nelson Crowder, James F. Wiggins, Cody J. Harmon, Charles Hill, Paul Oeding and Steven Nelson.
