Eddie Joel Stevens, Sr., 84, of Victoria, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 at home. He was born in Yoakum, Texas to the late E.J. and Iona Sherrod Stevens on October 1, 1936. Eddie married the love of his life, Barbara Browning Stevens on May 3, 1958, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, and together they welcomed two sons, Eddie Stevens, Jr. and Russell Stevens. Eddie worked in various positions at Union Carbide for 33 years, and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Victoria.
Besides his patience and sense of humor he will be remembered for his love of bowling, fishing, playing dominos, and spending time with his grandsons, always with a cup of coffee in his hand.
In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded in death by his sisters; Clara Vigus and Dean Phillips.
He is survived by his loving wife; Barbara Browning Stevens, sons; Russell Stevens and his wife Sharon, Eddie Stevens, Jr. and his wife Nancy, and three grandsons; Jory Stevens and his wife Stephanie, Joel Stevens, and Jace Stevens.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, on Thursday, September 2, 2021 with Pastor Lyman Mereness of Crown Hospice officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Crown Hospice, 1101 Salem Road #A, Victoria, Texas 77904.
