Dorothy Beatrice “Dottie” Caraway, 80 of Inez passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. She was born October 31, 1938 in Victoria, TX to Paul L and Robbie Rabel Jones. Dottie was a nurse for many years and after retiring continued her love of the profession at Citizens Hospital where she received awards for volunteering over 3,000 hours.
She loved the outdoors and rural living and was evident as she had deer and wild rabbits as pets. She also had a green thumb, having upwards of fifty pot plants scattered throughout her home and on her front porch.
She is survived by her sons, Shelby Lawrence Caraway of Schulenburg, Mark Dwayne Caraway of Inez; two granddaughters, Christy Lynn and Steffanie Nicole and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin L. Caraway in 1995; sister, Melba L. Gwyn and a brother, Frank Robert Jones.
Visitation will be held at Rosewood Funeral Chapels on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 6-7 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inez with the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Bischoff Cemetery.
