Doris LaNell Reiser, 97, of Round Rock, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a pillar of her community passed away on July 22, 2024. Doris was born on August 07, 1926 in Lockhart, Texas to William Fred Rice and Marie Smith Rice. She was a long-term member of First Baptist Church in Victoria, Texas.
Doris grew up in Luling, Texas; she attended the Luling public schools and graduated from Luling High School. She and her sister Raye enjoyed their childhood years in Luling and they had a standing date at the movie theatre every Saturday.
Doris married Andrew S. “Andy” Reiser on December 17, 1944 in Luling, Texas. After their marriage, Doris and Andy embarked on a journey that brought them to Austin where she was employed with White Pharmacy. As part of Andy’s employment with Shell Oil Company, they relocated to Victoria, Texas and Doris began a 33 year employment career with the Victoria Independent School District.
Doris was always most proud of her two sons: Stephen and Raymond. While Doris’ priority was always her family, she was able to share her many talents, interests, passions and sense of service with others in her community. She was always the first to volunteer to help others with their healthcare needs and transportation to medical appointments. Doris was also an avid reader and she shared her passion for reading with her many friends and family.
Doris’ life was a testament to the enduring and everlasting power of family, the pursuit of knowledge, and a deep appreciation for the doing for others. Doris was a determined, loving and compassionate person, a strong leader, and a force of nature. Her spirit will continue to live on, and her influence will be felt for years to come. Doris’ family will carry forward the traditions, lessons, and love she generously shared. As they honor her memory, her impact on their hearts will remain a testament to the extraordinary woman she was.
Doris is survived by her son Raymond James Reiser of North Fort Myers, Florida; grandson Mitchell Scott Reiser (Lori) of Salado, Texas; great grandchildren Andrew Michael Reiser (Rachel) of Dallas Texas and Kaitlyn June Reiser of Dallas, Texas; and great, great grandchildren Franklin and Vi; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Doris is predeceased by her husband of 45 years Andrew S. Reiser, her father and mother, stepmother Vera, along with her sister Raye Tiller and son Andrew Stephen Reiser, Jr.
Doris’ family would like to extend deep gratitude to the many healthcare and medical providers who helped care for her these last few years. Of particular mention, the family would like to thank the management, nursing staff and caregivers of The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living Center and Suncrest Hospice Care for their kind and professional care of Doris.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11AM at Colonial Funeral Home in Victoria Texas, with funeral services beginning at 1PM with Pastor Ben Sheeran officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the charity of your choice or First Baptist Church Victoria, Texas.
