Donna Rae Maxey, 77, of Victoria, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013. Donna was born July 26, 1936 in Enid, Oklahoma to the late James Ray and Melissa Irene Constant Sparks. Donna was a member of the First Baptist Church in Victoria where she was a member since her high school days. She was a long time choir member, played the organ and piano for church, seamstress, and loved going camping with her family and friends, and a devoted wife and mother.
Donna is survived by her husband, David Lew Maxey; son, David Ray Maxey (Donna); daughters, Sandra Denise Edgar and Tracy Lee Funari (Adrian) all of Victoria; brother, James Elliott Sparks (Alicia) of Dallas; grandchildren, Sarah Maxey of Victoria, David “D.J.” Maxey of College Station, Gwen Ostler (Sonny) of Cuero, Jessica Woods (Hank) of Cuero and Meghan Rush (Matt) of Victoria and nine great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be Monday, November 4, 2013, from 6-8 PM, at the Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 1 PM at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Shamburger officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Thompson, D.J. Maxey, Matt Rush, Adrian Funari, Billy Startz and Hank Woods, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donna’s granddaughters; Sarah Maxey, Gwen Ostler, Jessica Woods and Meghan Rush.
