Joe was born in Victoria, TX in 1947. He graduated from Southwest Texas State in 1970 with a degree in chemistry and earned his degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law, subsequently obtaining his law license in 1975. He was accredited as a Board-Certified Family Law Specialist in 1990 and dedicated over 49 years to his profession in serving his community.
Joe’s commitment to serving his community was echoed through his accolades and participation on various boards, including the Victoria County Texas Child Protective services, YMCA, Palmer Drug Abuse, among others. He was a former Director of United Bank, President of the Victoria, County Young Lawyer’s Association, and a former Director of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists.
Joe was truly a renaissance man, named most eligible bachelor in his early years, tenor in a barbershop quartet, celebrated as an honorary Victoriadore member, painter, self-taught guitar and piano player, scuba diver/enthusiast, sailor, mentor, and he was always the best dancer in the room. He was a righteous and fair man who made time for others providing advice and guidance. He was a lifelong learner with and infectious childlike curiosity. He leaned heavily on his faith and moved through each day with boundless moral courage.
Joe was a man of God and believed in using every opportunity to spread His word. He was a long-term member of Baptist Temple Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
He was a philosopher at heart and happiest when exploring God’s green earth. He wore many hats and answered to many names, but the greatest of them all were Husband, Dad, and Pop. Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there has been a trail of memories.
As Joe Wall would say, “wherever you are, there you are”. We will always remember…My daddy loves me.
You did good Daddy! May you rest in peace until we meet again.
A visitation will be held in memory of Joe from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Tuesday, December 19th at Rosewood Funeral Chapel and a memorial service on Wednesday, December 20th at 2:00pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, 3304 E Mockingbird Ln, Victoria, TX.
