Aw Rick,

You were a scallywag, that's for sure.  I still can't believe you're gone but I know you're creating havoc wherever you are!  You lived life exactly the way you wanted and those of us who got to get close to you were the lucky ones.  

I came into your life later than a lot of your friends - it was the 80's and you were our agent.  And don't think I'll ever forget you sending us to Campbell River to play that Fletcher Challenge party telling them, "Oh sure they can play country!" when we were a full on 80's rock band!!  Bad Uncle Ricky.   LOL!!  

You and I went on to become good friends and I cherish every moment we spent together.  What an original you were!!  And oh yes, you LOVED the ladies.  And they loved you!  I'm gonna miss you, darlin.  But I know we'll meet again.  Until then, I'll hold you in my heart.

Rick and I have been close, solid friends for over 40 years.  As with all his friends he treated me to wonderful dinners, music, photography, good advice, new ideas, thought provoking, eye opening conversations, really fun theme parties and dances, contests.  Our lives were enhanced in many ways thanks to Rick.  One thing that I feel is especially admirable is that Rick did exactly what he wanted to do. He lived his life his way and was a totally authentic person. If more people had that kind of courage and confidence, the world would be a better place.  Because of being true to himself, his short life was triple the contentment and fulfillment than most. We can all learn some important lessons from Rick.   He’s gone in the physical sense only and his energy will always be with us to bring a smile and a chuckle.   Eat the worm Ricky!    Love Gwen 

Rick lived large and fully for as long as he was able. His razor wit and sense of humour is legendary. We had more adventures than I can recount running Staccato Music together and in the decades that followed managed to keep in touch, largely due to his incredible letter writing talent. There will never be another like him. Sleep well Rick.  

Well Rick... You fought long and hard but now it's time to rest.
I'll always remember 'Uncle Ricky'
You were always a great host even though we only lived a few blocks from each other for a time.  We knew how to party back in the day and it was all to your sound tracks. You included Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd and a host of cartoon characters at the end of the tracks. It was time to say good-bye when "Mony Mony" played.
Tzaddi, Tyler and I played Dungeon & Dragons with you. That was fun. 
You were a sweet guy Rick. You Loved the ladies. You were smart and created crossword puzzles. 
It was easy to hang around with you, you were a part of the 'gang'.

May you rest in peace my dear friend. Say hi to Kevin, Dale & Debbie for me  will you.

I have known Rick since I was around 12 years old or maybe even younger, and having amazing visits with him. A wonderful guy, he loved playing Dungeons and Dragons, he was a great leader on that game with his imagination. He was a thinker, a reader and loved creating ideas! A guy well loved by many....rest in peace Rick we all will miss you with our hearts.

I met Ricky - and I loved to call him Ricky as he always reminded me of a young lad, full of energy, spunk, and mischievousness - in the winter of 1989.  In fact, a group of us had a fantastic New Year’s Eve party at his house on Prince Albert Street on the east side of Vancouver. Ricky loved that name and was very proud to point that out on occasion. 

Ricky loved to party and his passion for music showed every time he put together the music mixes for our parties and other events that he DJ’ed for. 

Over the years we became good friends, and in 1991 he was the best man at my wedding, and the DJ.

Even though Ricky was in and out of Vancouver for much of our friendship, we never lost touch, thanks to the internet. 

Whenever he was in town he would always treat me to wonderful home-cooked meals at his place. Ricky had a passion for good food and loved to cook, but, oh my, what a mess he left in the kitchen, lol.

Ricky also had a love for women, and the beauty in a woman that was important to him was definitely on the inside!! He had great respect for women and from my experience and from what I observed, he was always kind, understanding, a good listener, caring and helpful. 

Photography was his other great love. It was important for Ricky to capture the beauty around him, be it partners, friends, nature, or his everyday environment.

Ricky also had a great sense of humour, and was very creative when he put together his “Trivia Nights,” either at his home for friends or at the Legion Branch 48 for everyone who wanted to join in the fun. He was at home on the stage. He was a performer who thrived on the attention, and attention that was well deserved. Everybody loved Ricky at the Legion!

I will miss you my dear friend, you will always have a place in my heart, and I know that you are in a much better place now. 






I've known Rick since I was a kid as my mom went to elementary school with Trudy, Rick's mom. I lived with him in a number of different places in our twenty's; our friendship was a long one. He was a great guy always coming up with new ideas whether organizing themed parties, to finding  the cheapest but best eats and beers in the city. We could always count on Rick for fun innovative ideas and events. He was very kind, always having a sympathetic ear to listen to and gave advice when asked. He was a deep thinker and was always reading something to learn. I’ll miss his laugh his kind smile and his keen intuition of human behaviour. He was one of a kind and he left his mark here.
