Terry was born in 1941 in Victoria BC to Sibyl Tribe. In order to help support his mother and sister (Sandra), Terry started working early in life first at Wilson & Proctor and then Shawnigan Lumber. Terry met Sue Shaw when he was 17 years old and married her in 1962. They remained married and the best of friends until his final breath. In 1963 they started a floor covering business that they successfully ran for the next 25 years. During those years together they settled in the Willis Point area where they raised four boys in a water front home and filled their lives with many adventures including snow skiing, water skiing, fishing and cruising. Terry was not an avid sportsman, in fact he didn’t like going in the water or snow skiing and yet about once every decade when the opportunity arose and he had just the right audience he would shock everyone by jumping in the ocean with his ‘chicken little’ legs or accidentally ski down a slope backwards and get himself trapped in a tree upside down.
Terry had many passions and forged many lifelong friendships through his business and activities like boating, hot rodding, home renovations and property development. A fiery red head -‘TNT’ was quick to the wit and he made a lot of people laugh at the shenanigans he and Sue would get up to with their many close friends.
Terry will be dearly missed. He is predeceased by his oldest son David and survived by his wife Sue, sons Russell (Karen), Steven, Jamie (Ingrid, Griffin, Alexandria) and his adoring grandchildren Rustin (Kym), Alex (Cloe) and Brodie.
A celebration of life will be held for Terry’s friends and family, 2:00 pm Thursday August 25th 2016 at First Memorial 4725 Falaise Drive Victoria BC. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donating to the charity of your choice.
