Simone was born to Simon and Isabel Plamondon on January 21, 1932 in Plamondon, Alberta and spent time in Red Deer, AB., Trail BC, and Rossland, BC. before finally residing in Kimberley, BC in 1945. Simone worked for many years at the Kimberley hospital helping with delivering trays and in the central supply room. She met Eric, her husband of 72 years in 1949 and they married on May 5, 1951. Simone and Eric built their home in Kimberley where they raised their four children. Simone and Eric lived in the same house until moving to Victoria in 2021 to be closer to family.
Simone was a very caring and kind hearted individual. She was always willing to chip in and help others before herself. Simone volunteered at the Kimberley Food bank and was an active member of the Catholic Woman's League. She enjoyed cooking for the family and hosting many extended family meals. She was well known for her Huckleberry Pies and Tortier (meat) Pies. She introduced her family to Crepes that were eaten with sausages, Surcre al a Creme syrup, pickles, strawberries and whipping cream all rolled into one crepe!!!
Weekends camping with the kids around Kimberley and holidays in the summer were favorites for the family. Many fond memories for all. Once retired Simone enjoyed many years of golf and she and Eric enjoyed being in the outdoors hiking. Their favorite spots were in the Kooteney and Banff National Parks. Winters in California were also very much enjoyed (no snow)!!
Simone is survived by her husband Eric, son Kelvin (Marie), daughter Colette (Reiner), son Lorne (Kimberly), grandchildren Myles (Shannon), Ryan (Jennifer), Ashley, Travis (Taylor), Shannara, Saxon, and her great grandchildren Avery, Jack, Evelyn and many more extended family members.
Simone was predeceased by her parents Simon and Isabel, brothers Phil and Ken, sister Annette and son Darren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and care aids that the Victoria General Hospital 4B and the staff at the Priory Long Term Care Home.
A funeral Mass will be held for Simone on July 20, 2023 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish 798 Goldstream Avenue, Victoria.
